It's a Boy! Un Nino!

Friday, May 30, 2008

Yep, we sure got surprised! I've been calling him a girl for months, poor thing, and Emmanuel and I had already picked out a girl name. Emmanuel is really happy and was smiling all day yesterday thinking about it. I am happy, but still very surprised! Gender is such a big deal. I have to change my train of thought from princesses and mommies-in-training to trucks and missions.

It's a boy, it's a boy, it's a boy, I think it's starting to sink in. What was your bet? Are you surprised too? Can't wait to hear your comments :-)

Wild Animals! I Mean...Toddlers!

Okay, so in the past 2 weeks Emma has received the worst injuries to date. I don't know what has gotten into her, but this 16 mo. mark really made her run and jump and climb like little cave baby. Two weeks ago it started when when we were signing papers for the house, she ran into an aluminum chair and split her lip open (pictured here). Then, a week later, I was chasing her, she ran into the mattress on our bed, bounced off, and busted open her gums by her front 2 teeth on the bed frame. Then, just last Friday, she took her first visit to the ER when she tripped over her playdate and flew head-first into the corner of the wall. Everything is okay, of course, but man has she given us a few scares! And she's not even to the "terrible" twos yet! What's next?!

Preggo Update Month 4

Monday, May 12, 2008

I had another prenatal visit last week, and the whole family came this time. Emma had no idea what was going on, but the midwives taught Emmanuel how to feel the baby, and we got to listen to it's heartbeat. We get to find out the gender in 2 weeks! I can't wait. I'm about 95% positive it's a girl, but it will be nice to know for sure so I can officially get clothes together, colors for the new baby's room planned out, etc. Other than the same back pain coming back that I had with Emma (only worse this time) I am feeling A-o.k. Everybody I see says I don't look pregnant, but I maintain my opinion that I look the same just fatter in the middle, like I've been drinking beer every night for 2 months haha. If it's a girl, Emmanuel and I already have a name planned out, but you'll have to come back and see in 2 weeks when we post about the ultrasound. I don't want to annouce a girl's name until I know it's a girl :-) Oh, the other thing, even though I know this doesn't determine gender or anything, is that when the midwife put the doppler on my belly to listen to baby's heartbeat, she kicked it just like Emma used to! Little stinkers! I've been feeling her kick for about 2 weeks now, but it was funny to feel her react to someone pushing on her haha.

Big News!

We are buying a house!!!!!!!! Well, actually, we are building a house. We've been researching and looking for about a month now, and we finally came to the right location and price. We're super excited. It should be about 6 months until we can move in, probably just after the baby arrives. Emmanuel wouldn't let me post the pictures of our floor plan and elevation of the front of the house, so if you want to see those, you'll have to email me. But here is a picture of out lot!

USAA Spring Fest

Monday, May 5, 2008

This past weekend was the big spring event where Emmanuel works, and of course we went to get free dinner and be social with his buddies. They also had a petting zoo and lots of inflatable bouncy things for kids, but there were so many kids and long lines I don't think Emma enjoyed it much. And since it was dinnertime, she had to eat, but the only kid-friendly food were hot dogs (check out Emma's close-up with the hot dog) and snow cones, so you can imagine how the diapers have been since :-) I think we enjoyed ourselves the most in the quiet moments on the grass eating hot dogs, frito pies, and roasted corn on the cob. It's always about the food-related memories for me at least :-)
