Emma's First Sentence

Saturday, June 28, 2008

La primera oracion de Emma fue cuando estabamos dejando a Emmanuel para su dia de trabajo. Mientras el estaba caminando para la entrada, grito Emma...

It was Thursday and we were dropping off Emmanuel to work. As he was walking away from the car into the building, she shouted...

"Bye bye Papi!"

Barney Marathons

Thursday, June 19, 2008

One day I decided to show Emma an episode of Barney. I did this because some of my girlfriends rave about how their kid got into 'Lady and the Tramp' or whatever and that actually gave them 10 minutes to start dinner. Well, I've been getting a lot more done around the house, but that's because Emma has to have Barney on 24/7! She cries and repeats his name over and over again until I put it on. I don't want her to watch too much TV. Haha I didn't think it would happen so fast! (Watching no TV at all to having it on all day!) Maybe she'll grow out of it and get bored of the same episode playing over and over?

Mami and Emma Go to SixFlags

Tuesday, June 17, 2008

It didn't sound like that big of a deal, taking Emma to SixFlags one afternoon, since we have a free parking pass and a season pass - but to make a long story short, it totally kicked my butt. Why? Well, it was 98 degrees that day (typical high here in SA these days) it was about a mile hike to get to the kiddie area in the water park, and part of that hike was up a 5-story ramp pushing a stroller in my flip-flops. Then we got there, and Emma was all freaked out by the sprinkly water spout that randomly squirted all of the kids from above. I thought it was refreshing, but because of the sprinkles, she didn't even want to be in the pool area! She kept running away from me, silly goose. Next time we'll have to try a different area, wear sneakers then change into flip flops, bring a life jacket so we can go in the pool, and hopefully take papi or another friend to help out with any chasing or complaining. Haha everything seems like a pain when you have a 42 inch pregnant waist and it's 98 degrees outside, I guess. I managed to get a few pictures, since I think Emma looks darn cute in a swim suit (brat face or not haha).

p.s. I am super excited because Emmanuel's taking me to a Rascal Flatts concert this weekend! (He hates country though, so ummm, we'll see what happens.)

My mom-in-law made this dress for Emma a while back. I thought it was time to show her what Emma looks like in it. As I was saying above, when Emma wants to get dressed, she says in Spanish that she wants to get pretty and after getting dressed she looks for sunglasses and a purse and then heads for the door to get the keys and leave. She must be copying somebody?

Baby Garrido Jr. is kicking like a professional lately! He's definitely more active then Emma was at this stage :-)

I Love Technology!

Since we signed on the house, Emmanuel and I have been shopping for everything from refrigerators to garage door openers. We have lots of time to find the best deal this way. Our newest purchase? Roomba 550 (only availible at Costco, instant $50 rebate!). It's an I-Robot that vacuums all by itself. All you have to do is pick up the toys, and voi-la! Brand-new (looking) carpet awaits. It works on hard surfaces, too, like in the kitchen, but I've yet to try it out there. It does such a great job on the carpet. It's inspired me to wash the couch covers, clean the tub, pick up the toys everyday, and much more. I love it! When we get the house and have a much bigger kitchen and 2-1/2 bathrooms, the Scooba (the mopping robot) would be a great help too!

Emma runs from Roomba, but she likes him. She calls it "booba". Of course when you try to get her reaction on video she's all shy, but maybe I'll get lucky one of these times. Until then, you'll have to settle for pictures of my clean apartment haha.

p.s. For those of you concerned about Emmanuel's moon boot foot, he's going in for an MRI today because it's still hurting him pretty bad and doc says it's not healing right :-(
