Benjamin Is Nine Months!

Friday, July 17, 2009

My sweet baby is getting so big I want to cry! I thought I would make a little post about him, from his perspective:

Things that make me smile: dancing, tapping to the beat, ricky-ran, pat-a-cake, saying "hi" and waving after I wake up from a nap, playing with Emma, tickles, clapping, Papi coming home, making big splashes in the tub.

Things that make me sad: when mami or papi make me fall asleep on my own, when they take too long to make a ba-ba, and when Emma rolls or sits on me.

Things that make me curious: the vacuum, open doors (refrigerator, bathroom) little bits of junk on the floor.

My favorite things to do: play the toy piano, look out the window, climb the stairs, "share" Emma's toys, pat a drum, shake a maraca, stand up and then lower down really hard bottom first in the tub so that it makes a big splash!

Things that make me so guapo: my big brown eyes, my chubby creases and rolls, my dark curly hair. Okay, maybe this isn't from his perspective, but c'mon now, I just had to!

I can't wait to celebrate your first birthday little guy! We love you!

Everything Jesus!

This past weekend we drove out past Shertz, TX to go to the Everything Jesus Ranch. It was down a long dirt road...

Emmanuel and Ben on the tour/hay ride.

Emma's favorite part - the piggies! I think she was surprised that they actually don't say, "oink, oink" but in fact they kind of snort and grunt.

Ben and Emmanuel on the front porch rocking chair. They sure love each other and are always playing. If only we didn't all look like a pack of city rats and were wearing overalls or something...

Momma piggy looking straight at us! A little creepy...

A Rain Celebration

Friday, July 10, 2009

Growing up in the Northeast, rain is almost always a burden. If you want to go out and do something, you must check the forecast first. Rain spoils days at the lake, trips to Six Flags, and driving safely. We have verses that talk about the rain man and sad children wanting to play: "rain rain go away, come again another day, me and ___ want to play".

But here, it's the complete opposite! I hope for rain everyday of my life! I hope it rains so that it cools off and we get a break from the sun. I hope it rains so that my grass doesn't die and I don't have to figure out when it's legal to water my garden. This is how Emma and Benjamin will grow up, loving the rain. And this is the day it began for Emma, on Wednesday.
